Obviously the Beckham and Blanco salaries are not a shock, even though IMHO AEG has way overpaid for Blanco, and his impact on the field is likely to be minimal. Angel and Reyna are making appx. what they were making in the EPL. Carl Robinson who is a good player but has failed to adjust to MLS after playing his whole career in England appears to be in the overpaid column. The same can be said for Andy Welsh. Greg Vanney, Richard Mulrooney and Ronnie O'Brien appear to have been rewarded for their loyalty to MLS with decent salaries. Now that these salaries have been published I see why Sharlie Joseph is so unhappy. He's better than probably over half the players on then list and he is not being compensated fairly by MLS, and yet when MLS had had offers to sell him to big European clubs they have refused.
The same can be said for Dwayne DeRossario. MLS needs to either work with the two players I have mentioned or sell them in the summer transfer window to leagues and teams that will fairly compensate them for their work. The fact that Ricahrd Mulrooney and Pat Noonan make more money that Dwayne DeRossario and Sharlie Joseph despite being less impactful players on the very same teams is a sick sick joke.

Also perhaps the best new int'l signing Guillermo Barros Schelotto is making appx. 150k a year, despite his near legendary status in Argentina's domestic league. (An Argentine collegue of mine called him the Argentine Ryan Giggs for all his big performances in big games despite never being considered the best player on his team.)Schelotto must be incensed that a less accomplished player than him like Blanco could be making 25 times what he is making in this league, since MLS seems so desperate to appeal to Mexican-American fans.

Who the heck are these English players on Toronto making all this money? I do agree with you on Sharlie Joseph and Derossario. They are two of the best EVER in MLS and deserve to be treated as such instead of some english primadona that comes over like this Robinson guy on Toronto and makes more than the two combined.

Unfortunately the release of the top salaries by the players association is nothing but an attempt to somehow elevate the salaries of lesser (mostly USA) players.

The only way that is going to happen is if there is a market for MLS players abroad.

With this in mind, a situation like Joseph's doesn't make any sense.

Interesting how LA and NY have 5 of the top ten salaries. But while NY has 2 more players in the top 35, LA has no more.

As I've said all along, DC seems to spend the wisest and get the most value having no salaries in the top 10 but 4 overall on the list. Who would you rather have - Donovan or Emilio, Moreno, AND Gomez?

Sams hate to break it to you but Robinson is actually Welsh not English.

Donovan's salary is ludicrious considering he takes half the season off.

blanco make quite much money for 34 year old futbol player.

How can metrostars have so many players at high salary under the cap?

European clubs all want Jimmy Conrad after he shut down the champions italy. Why he is so poorly paid? will he go to europe?

USA 2010, I'd take any of those three over Donovan by themselves!

Jovan Kirovski makes more money than Sharlie Joseph! No wonder so many of us find MLS to be a league that plays favorites and is tough to be taken seriously.

I'm very skeptical about the impact if any Blanco will make on MLS
