Daniele Dichio Signs With Toronto

Daniele Dichio who has floated around England the past several years signed with Toronto FC yesterday after securing his release from Preston North End. Dichio, a forward benefited from playing alongside Kevin Phillips with Sunderland between 1999 and 2001, scoring 11 goals in two seasons of EPL action. His production has tailed off since but he now joins the growing contingent of seasoned British players with Toronto FC. Mo Johnston has made an effort to raid the the Football League in England and only time will tell if the mix of English players with Canadian and American underachievers (like Conor Casey and Edson Buddle) will prove successful for the expansion club.
