US-Mexico Thoughts

Pre Game Thoughts:

Nice to see ESPN with the big game set up and production for this one after the minor league shame of the Denmark TV broadcast.

When is this game actually going to begin??????????????

ESPN has no shame.......this hype before the game is disgusting. I can only take so much of Dave O'Brien or Rob Stone and certainly didn't want to take both!

This is painful. ESPN couldn't even give certain World Cup matches the proper buildup, but seems to be milking this midweek friendly for all it's worth.

Glad to see Landon Donovan playing up top where he belongs.

Halftime Thoughts:

Mexico looks more organized but Jimmy Conrad and Carlos Bocanegra are really shutting down Jared Borgetti.

Chris Rolfe looks completely lost.

Ricardo Clark has shown flashes but isn't playing that well.

Pablo Mastroeni needs to start playing under control. He is so critical to this team and but he is a marked man by the officials. He has a reputation for being dirty that he needs to be aware of.

Our side looks disorganized and tenative. We need some attacking prowess from the bench. An opportunity for Eddie Johnson, Justin Mapp or Taylor Twellman to make a difference.

End of Game

What a game for Conrad, not just scoring a goal but seemingly being so well positioned on the defensive end when the man markers were beat.

Carlos Bocanegra showed some great hustle and guts considering he played 90 minutes on the weekend for Fulham.

LANDON DONOVAN GOT HIS MOJO BACK. TAKING GUYS ON, SHOWING HUSTLE.

How about Eddie Johnson showing some great counter attacking moves: He seems to have his confidence back even though he didn't score a goal.

Mexico gambled pushing too many men forward and the US could have gotten a few more counter attacking goals, but we'll take yet another 2-0 drubbing of Mexico. Feels like Korea 2002 all over again!

i was at match and it was dispicible for mexico. borgetti looks slow and not rested either. also blanco thinks he must do everything and he didn't use bravo or pardo on the attack.

sanchez has no savvy of tactics. he replaced 3 back liners with forwards exposing the rear to major counterattacks. donovan took full advantage and finished the match with a clean crisp finish which was right in front of me.

usa has a problem without mcbride in the attack. they may want see donovan stay up front. he has more comfort there.

bradley was a good choice for usa technical director and now the us fa must make his selection an official one. usa has played some very good futbol in his two matches. they need to reward him.

Torrado is garbage also. Mexico will never win another match on American soil. Me I don't mind. I am tired of making former players managers and bringing back tired retreads who care nothing about the national team like Blanco and Borgetti. The USA has wisely placed the star players minus Donovan of their team in some situations in Europe where they are top players on their teams. Mexico has sent players to top teams who are afterthoughts, so the US players using Convey and Bocanegra for example have developed a leadership skill that serves the US well. I agree Bradley should be named full US coach and that the US should not fall into the snake pit we Mexicans did with LaVolpe. Foreigners are like mercenaries and they will never properly develop a national team program. US should stick with an American coach. Klinsmann should be eliminated. He is a German at heart and will go back to Germany when he feels like it.
