Robbie Fowler MLS Bound?

Today's somewhat shocking signing of Andriy Voronin by Liverpool effective when the Summer transfer window opens in July would seem to suggest that the persistent rumors that ex- Liverpool star Steve Nichol (who now manages the New England Revolution) is looking to bring Robbie Fowler to MLS have credibility. Fowler scored two PK goals for the Reds over the weekend in the 4-0 drubbing of Sheffield United but he has been used sparingly since returning to Liverpool from Man City during the January 2006 transfer window.

Fowler for his part stated today that he has not thought about his future, but a player of his finishing ability would be perfect in Major League Soccer if Nichol can lure him to the New England Revolution. Major League Soccer believe it or not is probably closer to being on par with the EPL in regards to having creative midfielders than many would imagine. Where MLS is light years behind the EPL and every other European league is in quality, confident finishing and in classy attacking play. The bottom line is that throughout its short history, MLS has lacked good finishing and has been difficult to watch because creative midfielders like the retired Carlos Valderrama and Mauricio Cienfuegos would create wonderful opportunities which the forwards blew. Robbie Fowler would be the perfect remedy for at least one teams (New England) finishing woes. I hope MLS can make this move come the Summer transfer window.

Fowler's agent denies any link and claims Qatar and Saudi Arabia are making better offers.
